Terms of Service
Last updated: July 16, 2026
Welcome to Metras (formerly BasedCal). By using our website (metras.life) or mobile application ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Metras Is
Metras is a nutrition tracking and educational tool. It provides calorie and macronutrient calculators, food logging, sunlight tracking, AI-generated content, and informational guides based on specific dietary philosophies.
Metras is not a medical device, not a licensed healthcare provider, and not a substitute for professional medical or nutritional advice. All content, including AI-generated responses, calculators, scores (Warmth Score, BasedScore, Sun Score), and dietary guides, is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.
2. Not Medical Advice
Nothing in Metras constitutes medical advice, nutritional counseling, diagnosis, or treatment. The dietary philosophies presented (pro-metabolic, Instinctive Raw, carnivore, seafood-circadian, and others) represent specific schools of thought and may not reflect mainstream medical consensus.
Before making any changes to your diet, exercise, supplementation, or lifestyle based on information from Metras, consult a qualified physician, registered dietitian, or licensed healthcare professional. This is especially important if you have any medical condition, food allergy, eating disorder, or are pregnant or nursing.
You use all information from Metras at your own risk.
3. Acknowledgment of Educational Purpose
By using the Service, you expressly acknowledge and agree that:
- You understand Metras provides educational and informational content only, not medical or nutritional advice.
- The dietary philosophies, scores, calculators, and AI-generated content are not personalized medical guidance and have not been reviewed or approved by a licensed healthcare professional or any government health authority.
- You are solely responsible for any decisions you make regarding your diet, supplementation, exercise, sun exposure, or lifestyle.
- You will consult a qualified healthcare professional before acting on any information from the Service, particularly if you have a medical condition, allergy, eating disorder, or are pregnant or nursing.
- The dietary approaches presented may carry risks, and you assume all such risks by choosing to follow them.
You may be asked to affirmatively confirm this acknowledgment when you create an account or first use certain features. Your continued use of the Service constitutes ongoing agreement to this acknowledgment.
4. AI-Generated Content
Metras uses artificial intelligence to generate chat responses, food suggestions, dietary reviews, and custom diet presets. AI-generated content:
- May contain inaccuracies, errors, or outdated information
- Is not reviewed by a licensed healthcare professional before being shown to you
- Should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any health decision
- May not account for your individual medical history, allergies, or conditions
Metras does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or safety of any AI-generated content.
5. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Metras. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. Users under 13 may not use the Service (in compliance with COPPA).
6. Accounts
To use certain features, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as needed.
7. Plans, Billing, and Free Trial
Metras offers two paid plans:
- Metras Lite: $4.99 USD per month, or $39 USD per year
- Metras Pro: $9.99 USD per month, or $79 USD per year
Prices are in US dollars. Tax may be added at checkout depending on your location.
Free trial (Metras Pro, web). New Metras Pro subscriptions on the web include a 7-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically becomes a paid subscription and your payment method is charged for the plan you selected (monthly or yearly). You can cancel at any time during the trial at no charge from your Account page, using the Manage subscription button, which opens the Paddle customer portal. The free trial is limited to one per account, and accounts that have previously held a Metras subscription are not eligible for a new trial.
Renewals and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until canceled. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the current billing period and are not charged again. We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next renewal.
Merchant of Record (web). On the web, our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com Market Limited is the Merchant of Record for all web purchases. Paddle handles billing, invoicing, sales tax, customer service for orders, and refunds, and will appear on your billing statement. Paddle's Buyer Terms also apply to your purchase. You can manage your subscription and request refunds at paddle.net.
Mobile. On mobile, payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their terms and refund policies.
Refunds are described in our Refund Policy.
7a. Suspension and Termination
Metras may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and without prior notice if: (a) you materially breach these Terms; (b) your account has unpaid or disputed charges; (c) we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, security risk, or unlawful activity; or (d) you repeatedly or seriously violate our acceptable use rules. We may also discontinue the Service or any feature at any time. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
8. Food Safety
Some dietary philosophies presented in Metras discuss the consumption of raw animal products (raw dairy, raw meat, raw eggs) and other practices that carry food safety risks, including exposure to harmful bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli, and listeria.
Metras presents these philosophies for educational purposes only. Metras does not recommend or endorse the consumption of raw animal products. Always follow local food safety regulations and consult a healthcare professional before adopting any diet involving raw foods.
9. Accuracy of Nutritional Data
The nutritional data in Metras (calories, macronutrients, micronutrients, PUFA content) is sourced from public databases including USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. While we strive for accuracy, nutritional values can vary based on preparation method, brand, source, and other factors.
Calorie and macronutrient calculators use population-average equations (Mifflin-St Jeor, Katch-McArdle) that may differ from your actual needs by 10 to 15 percent. Adjust based on your own results over time.
Metras is not responsible for errors in nutritional data or calculator outputs.
10. Third-Party Content and Links
Metras references and links to third-party websites, products, and services (including supplement brands and educational resources). These references are editorial and informational.
Disclosure: Metras and Revivo Supplements are operated by members of the same family. Any mention of Revivo is identified accordingly within the Service.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, Metras is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any other third-party brands or individuals mentioned in the app.
11. Intellectual Property
All original content, design, code, and branding of Metras is owned by Alberto Cassab. The dietary philosophies and ideas discussed in Metras are attributed to their respective authors and sources. Metras does not claim ownership of these ideas.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Metras's content, design, or code without written permission.
12. User Content
Any custom foods, recipes, or data you create within Metras remains yours. By using the Service, you grant Metras a limited license to store and process your data solely to provide the Service to you. If you choose to share content with the community (such as custom foods or supplements), you grant other users the right to view and use that shared content.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Metras and its owner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Health complications from following dietary information in the app
- Inaccuracies in nutritional data, AI responses, or calculator outputs
- Data loss or service interruptions
- Any decisions made based on information from Metras
Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Service is to stop using it and cancel your subscription.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Metras does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Metras and its owner from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
16. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
Please read this section carefully, as it affects your legal rights.
Informal resolution first. Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to first contact us at basedcal.life@gmail.com and attempt to resolve the issue informally. Most concerns can be resolved this way.
Binding arbitration. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you and Metras agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by final and binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if your claims qualify.
Class action waiver. You and Metras agree that each may bring claims against the other only in your or its individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not otherwise preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding.
Governing rules. The arbitration shall be conducted in accordance with applicable arbitration rules in the jurisdiction set out below. Where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence prohibit or limit binding arbitration or class action waivers, those laws prevail to the extent required, and this section applies only to the fullest extent permitted by law.
By agreeing to these Terms, you acknowledge that you and Metras are each waiving the right to a trial by jury and to participate in a class action, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico City, Mexico. Subject to the arbitration provisions above, any disputes not subject to arbitration shall be resolved in the courts located in Mexico City, Mexico.
